Fully-Insured Healthcare Plan

Fully-insured healthcare plans are employer-based health insurance plans in which the employer pays an annual premium as negotiated with the carrier. The employer assumes no further financial risk if the claims exceed the premium. If premiums exceed claims, the carrier keeps the overpayment as profit.

Fully-insured plans are common among smaller firms with under 50 employees.
