I love kicking off a new year with great news. I’m proud to announce that HealthJoy was honored with Built In’s 2021 Best Places To Work in Chicago Awards. Specifically, we earned a place on the Best Places to Work and Best Midsize Companies to Work For lists for the second consecutive year and earned a new spot on the Best Paying Companies list.
Built In determines winners based on an algorithm that uses company data about compensation, benefits, and cultural programs. To reflect the attributes candidates are searching for on Built In today, this year’s program weighted some criteria more heavily, like remote opportunities and programs for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
It’s safe to say 2020 was a challenging year and we learned a lot of lessons in return, but we were able to persevere and create a better company because of those lessons. I’ve watched our team come together and deliver their best work for our members, clients, product, culture, and every aspect of our company — all with compassion and humility. I’m honored that we were recognized for what we offer our employees, but it’s HealthJoy’s employees who continue to make us a great place to work.
As we look forward to growing our talented team even further in 2021, travel back in time with me as I reflect on what we’ve achieved together in just one short year.
We started the new decade hot, raising $30 million in Series C funding.
Shortly after, the coronavirus upended every aspect of our lives, especially our healthcare system. As a benefits experience platform, we knew we could help alleviate some of the pressure on our critically strained hospitals and flatten the curve. So we got to work.
We created a COVID-19 center in the HealthJoy app to help our members find answers and care, including links to our screening tool, telemedicine, and any mental health support resources included in the member’s plan.
Shortly after that, we rapidly developed and introduced QuickLaunch, a limited version of HealthJoy that allows companies to give employees access to our mobile app in just two business days, rather than our typical implementation time of 60 days or more. Despite the challenges of 250 employees working from home together for the first time ever, we were able to deploy QuickLaunch in just 12 days and give more people access to the care they needed.
Throughout it all, our employees have shown unwavering commitment to further our mission and guide members to affordable, high-quality healthcare. Every team, from member services and engineering to implementation and customer success, has a hand in making this a truly special place to work, grow, and make an impact.
I’m so excited about what’s in store for HealthJoy this year. We recently hired the incredibly talented Dr. Patricia Pechter as our Chief Medical Officer to introduce deeper clinical capabilities to our mobile app and identify additional ways to provide members proactive, affordable care. We’ll continue to grow and strengthen our product this year, and we’re hiring for several key roles to play a role in that development. While I can’t share everything that’s on our product roadmap just yet, I can reiterate something I’ve been saying for a long time: we work with Chicago’s best, and we’re building something incredible together.
